Working in media relations makes me the liaison between the department and the public. I grew up in a Spanish-speaking neighborhood that wasn't the safest area. But I had a strong family that instilled in me the importance of education and drive. I am proud that as a Spanish speaker, I can have a positive impact in the Hispanic communities. The work we do in our department is so important because I am assisting in building a bridge back to that very community I started in. So many Latino families have come to America to leave a different type of life behind, and they trust their new community, like my family did. They trust the LAPD too because we are very good communicators.
I didn't always want to be a Police Officer. For me, it was more important that I pursue a higher education before anything else. But now, after seven years on the force, my work with the community has strengthened my passion for this job. I appreciate when a stranger thanks me for helping them. Being appreciated in the community and seeing all of the families interacting with our department is what drives me to be the best Officer I can be.
To Protect and To Serve My Family. I’m proud to be a part of the LAPD community and to be serving my family in the larger community; the City of Los Angeles.
