
After completing the LAPD training
program, Reserve Officers are given the choice to
work one of the LAPD’s 19 divisions.
While reserves are required to work a minimum of
32 hours every eight-week period, most of them work
more.
After the academy, Level III Reserve Officers generally start
out as a Front Desk Officers in one of the Patrol Divisions. Level
I and II Reserve Officers generally start working as a Patrol Officers.
Reserve Officers are eligible to work a wide variety
of assignments. There are currently Reserves working
the following assignments:
• Uniform Patrol
• Bomb Squad
• Metropolitan Division
• Fugitives
• Air Support
• Recruitment
• Motorcycle Detail
• Bicycle Detail
• Vice Details
• Narcotics
• Traffic
• Detective Operations
• Scientific Investigation Division
• Firearms
• Academy Training
