Entry Level Reserve Officer. (R-1 and R-2)
Upon completion of his or her Academy training, a Reserve Recruit
Officer automatically advances to Reserve Officer 1 status.
Upon completion of one year as an R-1, the Officer
shall automatically advance to R-2 status. The R-1 and R-2 positions
are not considered a management position.
2.
Squad Leader - Area Reserve Unit. (R-3)
This position shall be activated when the Area Commanding Officer,
Area Reserve Coordinator and the Reserve Officer in Charge determine
that the number of Reserve Officers in the Area/Division deems this
activation to be necessary for the operation and supervision of
the reserve unit.
A Reserve Officer is eligible for
advancement to the position of R-3 by:
Acquiring one year of experience as an R-2, and,
with the recommendation of the Area Reserve Coordinator and the
Area Reserve Officer in Charge (R-5), and concurrence of the concerned
Commanding Officer.
This Reserve Officer shall keep the Reserve Officer
in Charge and the Area Reserve Coordinator informed of all activities
within the concerned squad.
3.
Assistant Reserve Officer in Charge - Area Reserve
Unit. (R-4).
As the Reserve Corps grows in numbers, an Assistant Reserve Officer
in Charge of the Area reserve unit may be activated. The duties
for this position will be determined by the Area Commanding Officer,
and the Area Reserve Coordinator.
The activation of these positions shall be with
the approval of the concerned Commanding Officer.
A Reserve Officer is eligible for consideration
for advancement to the position of R-4 by:

of experience as an R-3, or |

Acquiring three years of experience as a Reserve Officer, and, with the recommendation of the Area Reserve Coordinator
and the Area Reserve Officer in Charge (R-5), and concurrence
of the concerned Commanding Officer. |
4.
Reserve Officer in Charge - Area Reserve Unit. (R-5).
This position is responsible for keeping the Area
Commanding Officer and the Bureau Reserve Officer in Charge
(R-7) informed of the activities and accomplishments
of the Area reserve unit, squads, and individual Reserve Officers within the assigned area.
A Reserve Officer is eligible for consideration for
advancement to the position of R-5 by:

one half years of experience as an R-4, or |

Acquiring three years of experience
as a Reserve Officer, and, with the recommendation
of the Area Reserve Coordinator and concurrence
of the concerned Commanding Officer. |
5.
Assistant Reserve Officer in Charge - Bureau. (R-6)
The duties for this position will be determined by the Bureau Commanding
Officer and the Bureau Reserve Officer in Charge (R-7).
A Reserve Officer is eligible for
consideration for advancement to the position of R-6
by:

Acquiring five years of experience as a Reserve
Officer, and, with the recommendation of the concerned Reserve
Coordinator and the Bureau Reserve Officer in Charge (R- 7), concurrence
of the concerned Bureau Commanding Officer, and concurrence of
the Department Reserve Coordinator. |
6.
Reserve Officer in Charge - Bureau. (R-7)
This position is responsible for keeping the Bureau Commanding Officer
and the Assistant to the Department Reserve Coordinator informed
of the activities and accomplishments of all Area reserve units
within the Bureau.
A Reserve Officer is eligible for
consideration for advancement to the position of R-7
by:

Acquiring five years of experience
as a Reserve Officer, and, with the recommendation
of the concerned Reserve Coordinator, and concurrence
of the concerned Bureau Commanding Officer and
the Department Reserve Coordinator. |
7.
Assistant to the Department Reserve Coordinator. (R-8)
This position is responsible for keeping the Department
Reserve Coordinator informed of the activities and
accomplishments of all Reserve Officers within the
Department.
A Reserve Officer is eligible for
consideration for advancement to the position of R-8
by:

Acquiring
ten years of experience as a Reserve Officer,
and, with the recommendation of the Department
Reserve Coordinator, and concurrence of the Chief
of Police. |
